Who is Richard Barragan?
I am a U.S. Army veteran, a 68W airborne medic paratrooper who served with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade from 2013 to 2017, and the owner of BREAKCHECKBARRAGAN LLC in Yuma, Arizona. Mine is the one name on every report, opinion sheet and recording the practice produces.

Why did you stop selling cards?
My service-connected disabilities made selling cards too difficult to continue. In 2026 I stopped selling and kept the part that was always the point: the independent, documented opinion.

What does "independent" mean here?
I hold no interest in any card I evaluate, I never buy, sell, broker or consign cards, and my fee never depends on the value or my conclusion. Any conflict of interest is disclosed in writing in every engagement letter.
Why should I trust your opinion?
You should not have to take it on trust. Every opinion I give names its method, shows its photographs and states its limits, so you, or anyone you hand it to, can check how I reached it.
Is the business Veteran-owned?
Yes. Break Check Barragan is Army Veteran-owned: I served as a U.S. Army 68W airborne medic paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade from 2013 to 2017. SDVOSB certification is pending.
What does "Proof, not promises" mean?
It means I give you a record you can check, not a promise you have to believe. Sealed product is opened on camera, every card is sleeved and recorded as it is pulled, and the record lets you prove it later.
Why "Break Check Barragan"?
I wanted a business where you take a break from life and check on yourself. My legal name is Barragon; "Barragan" is the name my best friend Reyes gave me, and it stuck.
Is it a registered business?
Yes. The practice is BREAKCHECKBARRAGAN LLC, an Arizona limited liability company established in 2024, locally operated in Yuma, AZ 85364.
What don't you do?
I do not buy, sell, broker or consign cards, negotiate sales, sell or broker insurance, hold funds or provide escrow, or lend or advance money. I also do not guarantee authenticity or promise grades.

How do I raise a concern or dispute?
Email me first and I answer in writing. The engagement letter states the governing law (Arizona) and the process that follows.
