What does Break Check Barragan actually do?
In short: I give independent, written opinions about trading cards (what they are worth, whether they are real and what condition they are in), and I record sealed product being opened so the cards carry proof. I never buy or sell cards.
Break Check Barragan is a one-person practice in Yuma, Arizona. I am Richard Barragan, and my name is on every report, opinion sheet and recording the practice produces.
The work falls into three groups
Opinions on paper. A written appraisal states what your cards are worth for a stated purpose: insurance, an estate, a sale decision, a donation or a dispute. An authentication opinion says whether a card is consistent with genuine, and shows the checks I ran. A pre-grade assessment reads a card before you pay grading fees.
Records. A documented break is a sealed box or case opened on continuous video, with every hit sleeved and its condition recorded the moment it is pulled. The submission hub extends that record all the way to the slab.
Training. Card shops use the practice to certify staff on a written condition standard.
What I do not do
I do not buy, sell, broker or consign cards, and I do not negotiate sales for anyone. I do not hold your money, sell insurance or lend. That is not modesty. It is the reason the opinion is worth paying for. Read why I stopped selling cards.
