Will you tell me what my card is worth in a message?
In short: No. I do not give opinions on value, authenticity or grade in messages. Those come only in a written report after an engagement letter, where the purpose, method and limits are stated.
A number typed into a chat has no purpose, no definition of value, no date and no method behind it. People screenshot it, forward it and rely on it in ways it was never meant for, and if it is wrong, nobody can see why.
A written opinion says what value it states, for what use, as of when, and how I reached it. That is what makes it worth relying on, and it is the only kind I give. If you only need a quick steer, a short verbal consult is the honest version, billed by the hour and summarised by email.
