Insurance, claims and donations
Do you sell insurance?
In short: No. I prepare documentation and valuations for insurance purposes. I do not sell or broker insurance, and I can point you toward agents who write collectibles coverage.
Keeping insurance sales out of the practice is part of staying independent. If I earned a commission on your policy, I would have a reason to push the coverage up.
Your agent chooses the policy. I give them the inventory and the values they need to write it.
What I do for the policy
What I produce is insurance documentation: an item-level photo inventory, a valuation schedule with the definition of value and its effective date, and a summary letter for your agent. The format follows common scheduled-property requirements, and I adjust it to what your agent specifies. The retained copy is kept under the retention and consent policy.
If you do not have an agent who writes collectibles coverage, ask and I can point you toward some. The choice of agent and policy is always yours, and nothing I am paid depends on it. If a loss happens later, the same record helps with the claim; see can you help after a loss or damage claim?.
