What does a written quote include?
In short: The scope of the work, the intended use of the result, the fee and its basis, the timeline, the limitations, and any deposit. It arrives by email before anything is done.
A quote from me is a short scope of work, not just a number. It states:
- What I will do: which items, which service, in person or remote
- What the result is for: insurance, an estate, a sale decision, a donation, a dispute
- The fee and its basis: flat per unit, or hourly with its minimum
- The timeline: when you can expect the report or record
- The limitations: for example, that a remote opinion is based on your images
- A deposit, if one is needed: only when the scope says so
If you accept, the same terms go into the engagement letter.
