Which work is hourly, and which is flat?
In short: Consults, damage and loss claims, and expert witness work are hourly. Everything else is a flat fee: appraisal reports, donation appraisals, the remote clinic, authentication, pre-grades, hub submissions, breaks, insurance documentation and training.
The rule of thumb: if the size of the job is known up front, it is flat; if it depends on what we find along the way, it is hourly with a stated minimum.
- Hourly: verbal consults (30-minute minimum), damage and loss-claim valuation (a stated minimum per claim), expert witness and litigation support.
- Flat: written appraisals, donation appraisals, the remote clinic, insurance documentation, authentication opinions, pre-grade and reseal checks, hub submissions, documented breaks, and training seats and licences.
