In short: Written appraisals are prepared to USPAP standards. ISA designation candidate.

USPAP is a standard for appraisal practice, not a licence. What matters is the standard the work follows, the independence behind it and the record it leaves. For donation and other high-value appraisals, I work to the IRS standards for a qualified appraisal; see what an IRS Form 8283 donation appraisal is. I am working toward a designation with the International Society of Appraisers, and I do not describe myself as holding one until it is granted.
